Children grow faster than good cloth wears out. Every UinTales piece is drawn, embroidered and finished so that outgrowing it is the beginning of its life, not the end — kept for a younger sibling, a cousin, a friend, and read again with the story it was made for.

Made to outlast one childhood
Natural fibres — cotton, cotton-velvet and merino — with hand embroidery worked into the cloth rather than printed on it, reinforced seams and buttons sewn to be re-sewn.

Cut to be handed on
Generous seam allowance and hems that can be let down, in silhouettes drawn from folk dress rather than from a season — so a piece kept for four years still looks deliberate.

The story travels with it
Each piece carries its own tale. The reading code and the printed book stay with the garment, so the next child inherits the story as well as the cloth.
Keeping a piece well
- Wash cool and dry flat away from direct sun; embroidery keeps its colour for far longer than the child keeps the size.
- Store folded with the printed book, so the two are passed on together.
- Small repairs are worth making. Write to us and we will advise on thread and matching yarn for the embroidery.
